Whole-Home updates are becoming more popular as homeowners decide to remain in their house rather than selling and buying new homes. Do you have an older home and want to update and modernize it? Does it feel stale and uninviting? If so, try walking around your home, making a list of all the areas that bother you. You may not need to gut your entire home and start over. Quite possibly, you can keep most of your home intact and repair the areas in need, such as leaky showers, broken cabinets, non-working appliances and dirty carpet. It’s amazing how a fresh coat of paint and new flooring can transform a living area. New cabinet doors and countertops with updated appliances may cause you to start cooking again!
If you’re considering a Whole-Home remodel, you may feel a bit overwhelmed and have lots of questions. Where do you start and how much should you do? How will it flow together, connecting the transformation with those untouched areas? A Whole-Home remodel is a solid choice, as your home should reflect you. Your home should show your style and suit your needs. This is a good time to make sure your home’s interior flows well and is designed the way you’d like it to be, without having the challenges that can accompany a completely new custom home.
There are many important parts in planning for your Whole-Home remodel and we spend time getting to know our clients’ wishes and wants, problems with the “why” behind the remodel. Then we start the design and planning with each client’s needs in mind. We work together, hand-in-hand with each client for a customized remodel just for them. We love to hear: “I wouldn’t change a thing” at the end of every project. Call LoneStar Design Build to find out how we can help you!
As you consider a Whole-Home remodel, take a look at some of our clients’ dreams come true.
This first project was built for an executive couple who have lived in their beautiful home for many years. They planned to stay and update parts of the house for a complete look and fresh redo of their home.
The photo above shows the family room portion of a Whole-Home remodel. Originally the floor was sunken, causing a trip hazard and difficulty placing furniture. We filled in the sunken area with concrete to be level with the rest of the first floor. This allowed for new wood-look tile flooring throughout the entire first floor for a modern design. A new chandelier was installed above the kitchen table as well as the wet bar light and countertop. Modifications were also made to the built-ins on either side of the fireplace to conceal the TV and audio equipment.
The second project completely changed the look and feel of this Southlake couple’s home. They plan to stay in their home, and it no longer fit their current lifestyle. We touched almost every room of their home, and the transformation was completed in time for their son’s high school graduation and big family celebration. The photo showcases a kitchen project in their Whole-Home remodel. New stainless-steel appliances, including the gas cooktop, were installed. Granite countertops with a rustic stone backsplash coordinates beautifully with the existing cabinets. The flooring was replaced with gorgeous engineered hardwood that continues throughout the rest of the first floor.
The next two photos feature unique and different areas in Whole-Home projects. The first project centers on a fireplace. The photo is a beautiful fireplace that was remodeled to reflect the transitional look of the newly remodeled kitchen. Marble penny-round mosaic tile on the face and hearth pairs with a new modern and simplistic stained wood mantle.
The second project created a changed hallway for a couple of busy Doctors with young children. They bought an estate home needing lots of repair and renovation for their 1980’s style home. The photo displays a hallway project in which all the doors were replaced with new modern 3-panel shaker style maple doors and finished with a beautiful custom stain. Rustic wood-look tile not only runs down the hall but is installed through the front part of the house including the remodeled laundry room.
