Do you feel cramped or don’t have enough room for the family? Maybe the closets are small or a baby is on the way. Or you want to move your elderly parent into your home, but don’t have the right space. Since the housing market is continuing to grow, what makes the most sense…buy new or add on? Great question, as there are a lot of areas to explore before making the decision.

Additions are becoming more popular as homeowners decide to remain in their homes rather than selling and buying a new home. Although selling can be an option, many of our clients come to us after looking at what’s available on the market only to confirm their desire to stay in their home. If you’re considering adding on to your home, you may feel a bit overwhelmed and have lots of questions. Where do you start and how will the addition work with the rest of your home? How much will it cost and is it worth it? If you want to discuss your project and need help figuring out the details, call LoneStar Design Build for a consultation.

As you consider adding on to your home, take a look at some of our clients’ dreams come true.

Project in North Richland Hills:

The first sketch shows the addition, which includes a sunroom. This professional client felt cramped in her kitchen and wanted a more updated and open space to relax. She confessed that she really wanted a special place for her dogs so they could come and go through a doggie door when she was at work. The rendering provided our client with the plan for more windows and a door to the backyard, giving her a visual during the planning stages.

The next two renderings show the new layout for the kitchen and below that two photos of construction of the sunroom addition. We kept the footprint for part of the kitchen, housing the range, sink and refrigerator and used the breakfast area to expand her kitchen with added storage and a buffet. Once construction was underway, you can see the progress from the concrete slab poured to the physical sunroom structure with walls, windows, roofing and siding.

The photo below includes a French Door leading to the sunroom, drawing you into an open and airy living area.

Cabinets are painted a medium grey on the lower cabinets with white uppers, adding to the modern feel. Quartz countertops with a linear glass tiled backsplash pull the room together.

In the following photo, we continued the tiled flooring from the kitchen into the sunroom. An oversized doggie door allows the pets to move back and forth between the security of the home and inviting backyard. The pups just love their new space! And kitty chose her final bricks for the exterior of the sunroom.

“I hired LoneStar to help me design and remodel my kitchen and sunroom addition. I was looking for help and guidance in pulling everything together. I had ideas, but there were things I hadn’t thought of that made all the difference in my kitchen. It was an easy process, choosing colors and selections that worked well with my vision for my new kitchen. Once we started construction, I just sat back and all fell into place. They were very good about keeping me in the loop and I felt comfortable with the workers in my home. LoneStar thought of the little items and made sure all the work was completed according to plan. The quality was very good and I couldn’t be happier in my new extended kitchen and sunroom. Thank you, LoneStar!”
